gushing river
flush with springly melt
doth ponder wash away

there is no
up/down
right/left
yin/yang
demon/angel
this is why
they are named duality
for surely
any two choices
are delusion

the dandelion wars have raged for years
when i was a child
i picked a bouquet of dandelions for my mom
beauty for beauty
but she was allergic
and i learned dandelions were bad
growing greedy as vermin
multiplying in my lawn
i once saw an old woman spraying poison
her face twisted up in a strange sneer
as she squirted jet after jet of death onto those unlucky weeds
no… not poison i thought
i did weed ‘n feed that year
kids couldn’t walk in the yard for a week
DON’T TOUCH THE DANDELIONS
THEY’VE BEEN… well… poisoned
ah how we tend to revisit
the iniquities of our elders
a year passed and the dandelions were back
tenacious beasts
i uprooted each dandelion one by one
made a huge compost pile
it took me days, almost a week
and i dreamt of dandelion fractals
plunging down that yellow spinning brightly
and the next year
each site of uprooting sported
THREE MORE DANDELIONS!!!
so i planted clover
supposing if i couldn’t have perfect grass then clover might be nice
and perhaps it would compete with the dandelions
and it worked!
this year
i’m eating the dandelions

s/he who knows that
soundless
odourless
tasteless
in-tangible
formless
deathless
supernatural
un-decaying
beginningless
endless
unchangeable reality
springs out of the mouth of death

the common
run after pleasure
and sink into the entanglements of death

the wise
seeking the undying
do not run among things that die

the larger informs the smaller
much as a hand
grasps the pencil
scribbling nonsense over useless parchment
yet it is there
all the same

i found that
nameless
shapeless
homeless
invulnerable rock
and i was no longer terrified

some drugs can punch a hole through the ice
let you see the other side
and when you come back
you’re haunted
by those holes you punched through the ice
vs
meditation
slower
gentler
balanced
warm melting
of all the ice
evenly
both methods have their merits
there is no contempt
there is no intent
this is why they are named
intent and contempt
what good is meditation?
the ability to notice
to let go
to view dispassionately
then act appropriately
to feel and not feel
to be this all the time
and not just when a hole is punched through the ice

until one has conquered a devil
s/he has no business courting another

when there is nothing
from which everything springs
there is nothing to say

s/he who sees, thinks, knows this
loves the self
plays with the self
unites with the self
enjoys the self
governs the self
moves the self everywhere at pleasure
those who think otherwise
are governed by others
they lose what they gain
no where can they move at their pleasure
